Adapted from the novel of the same name by French author Frédéric Beigbeder. Octave (played by Jean Dujardin) is the creative director of a well-known advertising agency. Fed up with the flashy life of fashion celebrities and their luxurious comparisons, he decides to write a scathing book attacking the advertising industry as a farewell performance before resigning. Under the pretense of gathering material, he begins a decadent lifestyle, frequenting various nightlife venues with celebrities, spending every weekend surrounded by drugs, sex, and death, until he meets a girl named Sophia (played by Phaïna Jocrin). Love temporarily pulls Octave away from the materialistic world, but when he tries to enjoy the beauty of a peaceful life, he finds that it is already too late.
