Because his little peculiar hobby was discovered, Avis (played by Paul Dano) had to leave his beloved job. Hoping for a fresh start, he moved to New York and quickly found a stable job. On the surface, Avis seemed to be thriving in his new life, but the reality was known only to him. Avis lived in a rundown apartment, sharing it with his roommate Harrison (played by Kevin Kline). Harrison was an eccentric character; despite being knowledgeable and talented, he was always obsessed with quirky things and acted rather bizarrely. Only Harrison knew where the truly interesting events were happening in the city. Under Harrison's influence, Avis finally experienced the life he had always dreamed of, and through numerous wild adventures, a strong friendship developed between him and Harrison.
