Due to her husband Kyle Williams' (played by Dougray Scott) infidelity, the beautiful Dalia (played by Jennifer Connelly) ultimately chooses to divorce. After a prolonged marital battle and a custody struggle, she feels utterly exhausted. When everything settles down, Dalia moves to the suburbs of New York’s Roosevelt Island with her daughter Ceci (played by Ariel Gade), deciding to start a new life. The apartment rented by the mother and daughter, though somewhat old, is affordable. The realtor Murray (played by John C. Reilly) is warm and attentive, but cannot disguise the eerie atmosphere of the apartment. As the saying goes, “you get what you pay for,” and the mother and daughter may truly have hit a stroke of bad luck.
