The story takes place along the picturesque banks of the Suzhou River, where mechanic Gao ZhiHua (played by Zhang TieLin) takes pity on the small tailor Qin Nan (played by Gong Xue), who has nowhere to stay. He allows her to set up her stall next to his, and as they interact more, their relationship gradually becomes closer.
