DJ Williams (played by Columbus Short), known as the King of Dance, has just gone through a gang conflict triggered by a dance battle, which resulted in the unexpected death of his younger brother whom he had always taken care of. Exhausted both physically and mentally, he travels from Los Angeles to a black school in Atlanta to further his education. After feeling very out of place in this new environment, his life begins to change dramatically once he joins a street dance enthusiast alliance. His exceptional dance skills are showcased here, and the members of the alliance, in admiration, hope he can help them win the long-coveted national street dance competition championship. However, what they do not know is that despite his extraordinary dance talent, before becoming the most competitive backbone of the alliance, DJ must confront the shadows brought by his brutal past.
