Sierra (Shannon Purser) is an ordinary high school girl, lacking both beauty and exceptional intelligence, the kind of girl who gets lost in a crowd. One day, she accidentally meets a guy named Jamie (Noah Centineo) online, and they start chatting. Excitedly, Sierra finds out that Jamie is a handsome guy; however, Jamie seems to mistake Sierra for the popular girl at school, Veronica (Kristine Froseth). With the anonymity of the internet, neither knows who the other truly is, and Sierra decides to go along with the mistake, continuing to engage with Jamie under Veronica's identity, until one day, Jamie wants to video chat with Sierra. Faced with a lie that can no longer hold up, Sierra is forced to concoct an even bigger lie.
