Peter (Paul Rudd) and Zoe (Rashida Jones) are engaged. While Zoe excitedly shares the news with her sisters, Peter realizes he can't find a buddy to be his best man. In a desperate situation, Peter begins the "dating" process of finding a best man. The search isn't smooth until he meets the amazing Sidney (Jason Segel). Sidney brings out the hidden potential in the socially awkward Peter, and the two become inseparable friends, even forming a band. Their endless chatting, gaming, and dog-walking lead to them being together almost 24/7, which ultimately affects Peter's relationship with his fiancée Zoe. Unable to bear her fiancé's obsession with another man, Zoe gives him an ultimatum to choose between his buddy and her.
