16 years ago, Sagittarius Gold Saint Aiolos escaped from the Sanctuary with the true goddess reincarnation Athena in his arms, but was ambushed by Gemini Saga and Capricorn Shura, sustaining heavy injuries. In a twist of fate, the critically wounded Aiolos entrusted the goddess to the president of the Japanese Kido Foundation, Kido Mitsumasa (voiced by Ohsugi Ren), who happened to be exploring the Himalayas.
