Geologist Christian, who works at the avalanche monitoring station in Geiranger, is preparing to resign and move his family to Stavanger. As they pack their bags to head to the ferry, Christian notices some subtle changes in the surrounding environment and returns to the monitoring station to warn his colleagues about the impending danger of a landslide. However, they think his concerns are premature, so Christian reluctantly leaves. He spends his last night in Geiranger with his daughter Julia, while his son Sandra stays at the hotel where his wife Idun works. The disaster strikes unexpectedly as the landslide triggers a tsunami. Christian leaves home overnight with his daughter, and when he can't contact Idun and Sandra, he decides to temporarily leave his daughter with a neighbor and goes alone to the hotel to find his wife and son. He arrives at the hotel, which has already been swept by the sea, and discovers his wife and son in the basement. It turns out that when Idun was organizing the guests to evacuate, she noticed Sandra was missing. When she found her son playing with a skateboard, they had already missed the evacuation bus, leaving the mother and son trapped in the almost submerged hotel. To rescue his non-swimming son, Christian almost loses his life. Ultimately, the family of four is safely reunited.
