Winter suddenly arrives, as a wave of cold air from the Arctic unexpectedly moves south, hitting the southwestern city of Cincinnati, Ohio. There are differing opinions among library managers and the homeless on how to deal with extreme weather. Some of the homeless take refuge in the library at night to escape the harsh cold outside. However, this initially mild act of resistance gradually evolves into a deadlock. The police intervene to investigate, the media buzz incessantly, and various parties speculate on the circumstances in an attempt to uncover the truth. Much like the biblical story of mortals grappling with Hercules, this film addresses many issues present in America today, including material displacement and the psychological loneliness of illness, all taking place in the last bastion of democracy—the public library.
