Although he is the son of a construction worker, George Jung (Johnny Depp) is unwilling to be constrained by his humble origins. With grand ambitions, he arrives in California to chase his dreams. Soon, he makes a fortune through marijuana trafficking, but this also lands him in legal trouble. While in prison, Jung meets a fellow inmate who shares his plight, and he is introduced to the drug lord Pablo Escobar (Cliff Curtis). Before long, Jung becomes a key figure in drug trafficking across America, and through his illegal activities, he accumulates vast wealth, finally living the glamorous life he always dreamed of.
