War correspondent Matt Elman (Tahmoh Penikett, from Dollhouse) has ended years of a dangerous life navigating through gunfire and decides to opt for a quiet life. At a wild party in Singapore, Matt plans to propose to his girlfriend Jess McLaren (Laura Vandervoort) but is caught in a sudden tragic incident where both die in an explosion caused by a human bomb. After an unknown amount of time, Matt wakes up in a strange space. After crossing a turbulent river, he encounters many who died in the explosion, many of whom have regained their youthful appearances. After a brief moment of surprise, Matt is determined to find the missing Jesse, and during his ensuing mysterious journey, he experiences countless strange occurrences and meets many famous historical figures. Throughout this process, the truth slowly comes to light… This film is based on the novel of the same name and has been adapted by the Sci-Fi Channel into a four-episode miniseries.
