Set in 1990s Hong Kong, father Chu Fan (played by Tony Leung Ka-fai) is loyal and loves to boast, while son Chu Yuan (played by Tony Leung Chiu-wai) is indifferent and realistic. The two cannot communicate, leading to ongoing conflicts, with mother (played by Carina Lau) caught in the middle. On Mid-Autumn Festival, Chu Fan's soft heart leads him to let a thief go, resulting in his injury and coma. Chu Yuan takes the opportunity to sneak around with a female doctor at the hospital, while his girlfriend Ah Yi (played by Chingmy Yau) tries to advise him but fails to change him.
