In the most pure and imaginative years of her life, 13-year-old girl Xie Xinmei (played by Xu Jiao) spent her time in the deep mountains with her grandfather (played by Zeng Jiang). The quaint little wooden house and the serene, enchanting night sky are her most distant and steadfast attachments buried in her memories. However, one day little Mei has to leave this place, as she returns to city life with her dad (played by Yu Chengqing) and mom (played by Liu Ruoying). The bustling city is colorful and vibrant, yet it fails to provide her with any sense of belonging or emotion. A boy named Zhou Yujie (played by Lin Huimin), who frequently moves and transfers schools with his parents, shares similar feelings with little Mei. Their similar situations and mindsets bring them together, making them best friends. One day, Mei's parents choose to separate, and she finally decides to return to the mountains, taking her good friend Xiaojie with her to gaze at the long-lost starry sky... This film is adapted from the famous picture book by Ji Mi.
