Andy (Steve Carell) is 40 years old and living a quiet life with a high-paying job. However, trouble arises when he inadvertently reveals to his friends during a conversation that he is still a virgin. His friends are eager to introduce a girl to Andy so he can lose his virginity as soon as possible. Although Andy is anxious himself, sometimes the more urgent one is, the messier things get. His friends arrange for Andy to meet girls at a bar, but unfortunately, Andy cannot take the girls for a drive like everyone else because he doesn't know how to drive. Each date becomes a comedic disaster, with Andy making a fool of himself. Andy meets a single mom, Trish (Catherine Keener), who has three kids, and the two quickly fall in love.
