Every morning, She Weihao and Huang Junxiu walk to the fish market school in Tai Kok Tsui for class. Their lives as children from grassroots families, as well as their experiences of "taking care of each other," are plentiful here. Dong Rufeng and Tan Zhizai, who were born in the mainland, and even the most popular Huang Jiaqi among the boys in class share a similar story: their families moved to Hong Kong for the children’s futures, living in cramped rooms; but for the children, facing the sudden change in their environments and tracing back to another place's identity and values, is it a worthwhile "investment"? An experience on television, however, changed She Weihao's story. What does "family" mean to these children? What does the social "achievement" index and parents’ hope for their children correspond to for them? If we investigate the children's "expectations" towards their parents, adults, and even society, are the answers insignificant in the eyes of adults? Even if living in an unstable environment, children will still strive to demonstrate their vitality, which is something adults are reluctant or too busy to understand, and it is the essence of "Zifish, how can one know the joy of fish?" J and Jacky have been best friends and inseparable since they met in the first grade. Born in Hong Kong, J was raised single-handedly by his mother, a mainland Chinese who shared a subdivided unit of no more than three meters wide with him. Each time J's mother had to return to the mainland for "permit renewal," she left him with Jacky's family. However, J's life changed after he appeared on television one day...
