Ruben (played by Ben Stiller) has a job title that ironically reflects his personality—risk analyst. Ruben is an ordinary, even somewhat timid person, unwilling to take any risks in life. One could say he is like a stiff train, dutifully heading along the tracks to his life's end. Life decides to give him a blow anyway. He could have lived a quiet life with his newlywed wife, but instead, during the honeymoon period, his marriage hits a rocky patch, and poor Ruben catches his wife in a passionate embrace with a French muscle man. The cowardly Ruben silently returns to his solitary life, haunted by his past and growing increasingly disheartened. Polly (played by Jennifer Aniston) enters his life and brings a ray of sunshine into his miserable existence. Polly encourages him to experience the excitement of life, engaging in crazy activities that Ruben never had the courage to even imagine before. Now, he is like a child who has just discovered how colorful the world can be, rediscovering the joys of life under Polly's guidance, and their affection for each other blossoms rapidly.
