In a quiet suburban community, the somewhat famous painter David Anderach (played by Mads Mikkelsen) has an affair with his neighbor. One day, while he is goofing off, his daughter Leoni (played by Valeria Eisenbart) drowns in their swimming pool. This incident directly leads to the breakdown of his marriage with his wife Maya (played by Jessica Schwarz).
