A young girl named Sophie (played by Ruby Barnhill) lives in an orphanage and is always feeling down. One night at three o'clock, she is peering out the window, watching the long night, when she inadvertently sees a giant (played by Mark Rylance) who is enormous in size. After being discovered, the giant panics and hurriedly grabs Sophie, swiftly taking her back to his home in Giant Country. Fortunately, this giant, known as the Big Friendly Giant, lives up to his name; unlike his fellow giants who eat “human beans,” he only consumes fruits and vegetables, and he even delivers good dreams into the children's dreams. This is a kind of compensation for the atrocities committed by his kind. Perhaps due to their shared feelings of loneliness and kindness, little Sophie and the tall Big Friendly Giant gradually become familiar and trust each other, forming a close friendship free of any barriers… The film is adapted from the original work of the famous children's author Roald Dahl.
