The film is based on a true story set against the backdrop of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Between 1987 and 1989, the battlefield in Afghanistan was exceptionally brutal. Due to the strong resistance from Muslims, the Soviet Union suffered heavy losses in Afghanistan, with countless dead and wounded. Six new recruits from Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, enlisted to assist in frontline combat. They underwent harsh training and various special operations training. At the end of 1987, this special force formed the “Ninth Assault Squad” and was tasked with occupying Heights 3234 to cover the retreat of Soviet soldiers. The Ninth Assault Squad ensured the safe passage of most Soviet troops while exhausting their own ammunition and supplies. On the bloody and brutal battlefield, their fearless demeanor appeared particularly tragic.
