Famous candy maker Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder) announces shocking news to the world: he will select five lucky children to visit his chocolate factory, and one of them will win a lifetime supply of "Wonka Chocolate." The poor boy Charlie Bucket (Peter Ostrum) becomes the fifth chosen one. Having never had candy before, Charlie is overjoyed and excitedly brings his Grandpa Joe (Jack Albertson) along to embark on this sweet magical journey. Meanwhile, an evil stranger is enticing the children, promising wealth to anyone who can steal candy for him. Wonka leads the kids through the magical factory, but as they face the temptations of sweets, the other four children start to disappear one by one, leaving only Charlie and Grandpa Joe in the end. The film is based on Roald Dahl's novel of the same name and was ranked eighth in Channel 4's list of "The 100 Greatest Family Films."
