The ordinary-looking and introverted Carrie White (played by Sissy Spacek) has always been the unnoticed ugly duckling in her class. Her eccentric personality and her religiously obsessed mother create a unique environment for her to be bullied by her classmates. Despite the harsh reality, there are still people who quietly care about Carrie at school, which helps her build the confidence to want to fit into campus life. The three-year graduation prom is about to begin, and despite her mother Margaret White (played by Piper Laurie) strongly opposing it, Carrie is determined to win the title of "Prom Queen" to change her previously gloomy image. However, some people are always unwilling to let her go; on prom night, crowned and in front of the crowd, Carrie is drenched in pig's blood, and her anger activates her witch heritage, prompting her to use her powers to turn the venue into a hell on earth. This film is adapted from Stephen King's novel of the same name and has not only become the pioneer of teen horror novels but also paved the way for countless similar-themed movies in the future.
