Young African American man Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) is in a relationship with white girl Rose (Allison Williams). Despite their strong bond, Chris has lingering concerns about his skin color. One day, they plan a visit to Rose's family, where Chris meets her parents Dean (Bradley Whitford) and Missy (Catherine Keener). Everything seems perfect, except for a hint of hostility toward Chris from Rose’s brother Jeremy (Caleb Landry Jones). The next day, Chris attends a party organized by Rose's family, where he encounters an old friend, Andrew (Keith Stanfield). Chris is bewildered by Andrew's drastically changed demeanor, appearance, and behavior, which seem entirely different from before. Various bizarre clues lead Chris to gradually suspect that he may be caught in a conspiracy.
