Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren) is a wealthy young woman who meets lawyer Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor) by chance at a pet shop, and they fall in love. The next day, Melanie visits Mitch in the small town of Bodega Bay with her pair of pet parrots, only to be attacked by a seagull, leaving her injured. However, no one could have anticipated that this bird attack was only a prelude to a large-scale avian assault on humanity. Melanie stays in town to recover, and life is initially peaceful as she enjoys the beautiful surroundings and gets to know Mitch's family and ex-girlfriend, with her feelings for him gradually deepening. But the presence of the birds becomes increasingly disruptive, with more and more gathering ominously, and residents are attacked, injured, or even killed. The small town descends into chaos as it faces a terrifying bird catastrophe. People are on the brink of collapse, and how to escape from this horrifying place becomes an urgent concern.
