Housewife Donna (Dee Wallace) has an affair with another man, Steve (Christopher Stone). When she decides to end the relationship, Steve retaliates by revealing their affair to Donna's husband, Vic (Daniel Hugh Kelly), causing a standoff in their marriage. One day, Vic leaves under the pretense of official business, and Donna takes her 5-year-old son Ted (Danny Pintauro) to stay at a motel. The motel owner's son, Brett (Billy Jayne), has a Saint Bernard named Cujo, which is bitten by a bat and transforms into a bloodthirsty, vicious dog that begins to attack Donna and her son...
