West Point, 1830. On a gray winter morning, a cadet is found dead. But when the body is taken to the morgue, it is discovered that the young man's heart has been expertly removed, turning a tragedy into an unspeakable atrocity. Fearing irreparable damage to the newly established military academy, the school's leadership seeks the help of local detective Augustus Landor (Christian Bale) to solve the murder. As the cadets remain tight-lipped, Landor encounters obstacles in his investigation and recruits a cadet to assist him in the case. This cadet is eccentric, disdainful of the academy's strict rules, and passionate about poetry — his name is Edgar Allan Poe (Harry Melling). "The Pale Blue Eye" is adapted from Louis Bayard's novel and directed by Scott Cooper, featuring a critically acclaimed supporting cast including Gillian Anderson, Lucy Boynton, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Toby Jones, Harry Lawtey, Simon McBurney, Hadley Robinson, Timothy Spall, and Robert Duvall.
