Immigration agent played by John Hodiak travels to Havana to investigate a high-IQ criminal organization involved in human smuggling, but encounters Heidi Lamarr, a refugee desperately trying to get to the United States. He is deeply moved by her spirit and quickly becomes infatuated. As a result, the case goes unsolved, and disregarding his government benefits and pension, he plans to resign and spend the rest of his life with Heidi Lamarr in the picturesque Havana. However, their romance is complicated as the leader of the criminal organization also becomes enamored with Heidi Lamarr, leading to a fateful love triangle. Director Joseph Lewis genuinely dedicates himself to this film, and the one-shot aerial sequence near the end illustrates his painstaking effort! The entire film is filled with real scenes of Havana, which remain beautiful and authentic even under the old black-and-white lens. (Sweet Subtitle Group)
