During her elementary school years, Hinako (played by Yui Natsukawa) moved to Tokyo due to her father's job, leaving behind Shikoku and her friends, Shadari (played by Chiaki Kuriyama) and Fumiya (played by Michitaka Tsutsui). Before leaving, Hinako learned a secret about Shadari. Fifteen years later, Hinako returns to her hometown, where she meets Fumiya, but Shadari has passed away in an accident. Hinako always feels Shadari is by her side, and when she grows closer to Fumiya, they both see Shadari's ghost. Hinako senses something is amiss and decides to investigate with Fumiya. In fact, Shadari had always been jealous of Hinako for being able to leave their hometown before her, and now that Hinako is in love with Fumiya, it further provokes Shadari's ghost. Shadari's family is shrouded in mystery, and Hinako and Fumiya learn that Shadari's mother wants to resurrect her in a manner that involves the entirety of Shikoku. Surprisingly, Shadari truly comes back to life, and as a new human, she still longs for Fumiya...
