The story follows Los Angeles criminal defense attorney Mickey Haller (Matthew McConaughey), nicknamed the "Lincoln Lawyer," who primarily represents clients from the lower social strata. He has a clear sense of right and wrong, is principled, and is not a greedy person. However, this time, Haller's client is young, wealthy real estate developer Louis Roulet (Ryan Phillippe). Roulet is accused of assaulting and attempting to rape escort girl Rachel (Margarita Levieva), but he claims he is innocent and that someone is framing him. Roulet's mother is willing to spare no expense to prove her beloved son's innocence. To uncover the details of the case, Haller and his private investigator conduct an investigation. The evidence they initially gather suggests that Roulet is indeed innocent, making the case easy to win, and Haller could easily earn a substantial fee. However, a chance discovery leads Haller to realize that this case bears striking similarities to another rape-murder case he previously handled...
