The story takes place on Halloween night, when a boy named Max (Omri Katz) accidentally lights an evil candle, bringing back to life three witches who died three hundred years ago: Winifred (Bette Midler), Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker), and Mary (Kathy Najimy). Long ago, these three witches were sentenced to death for sucking the life force from children, and now that they've returned, they decide to repeat their actions. Upon learning of the witches' plot, Max vows not to stand idly by. He teams up with his sister Dani (Thora Birch) and his friend Allison (Vinessa Shaw) to thwart the witches' plans. Time is running out for the children.
