Akiyo Fumizaka (played by Atsurō Watanabe), in his middle age, became the son-in-law of a county councilor nine years ago. Despite his talent and ambition, he has been living under the shadow of others, and now can only serve as a section chief in a branch factory of a large electrical company in the countryside. One day, Akiyo unexpectedly reunites with his junior from ten years ago, Rika Noguwata (played by Kyoko Hasegawa), who is now a powerful figure close to the president. Though many years have passed, the flames of love reignite in their hearts. With Rika's meticulous arrangements, Akiyo starts to gain the president's recognition, suggesting a turning point in his life. However, this carnal love is ultimately fleeting; for the sake of brief passion and pleasure, Akiyo, caught in a thicket of thorns, is willing to push himself toward the dangerous slope.
