A poor but ambitious Mongolian boy with a talent for physics yearns to win the Academic Olympiad. However, before attempting to change his fate through knowledge, he must first face the harsh realities: his single mother, who is an alcoholic, returns home for work, and he insists on staying in Ulaanbaatar to continue his studies. To ensure his younger siblings have enough to eat and can survive the cold winter, he is forced to take on illegal work.
