Max's subordinate Harlan illegally taps into a satellite signal to obtain a program called Videodrome, which features raw, realistic scenes of violent abuse. After watching the program, Max becomes obsessed and loses interest in other shows. Radio host Nicki (Deborah Harry), who has masochistic tendencies, is also drawn to Videodrome and goes to Pittsburgh, the possible production location, to get involved. Max visits the program's creator, Professor Brian, but doesn't meet him. The professor sends a tape starring Nicki that causes Max to have hallucinations. When Max returns to learn that Brian has been murdered, he discovers that Barry from Amazing Optics is now in charge of Videodrome. Max falls deeper into a trap set by Barry, becoming increasingly entangled between Barry and Brian's opposing forces... This film won the Best Director Award at the 1984 Genie Awards in Canada.
