One of the "Because of Love" series films, it narrates the journey of a couple from meeting, falling in love, getting married, to separation. Director Ned Benson spent a full eight years from writing the script to filming. After being invited to shoot, the female lead, Jessica Chastain, suggested he also release a female version titled "Because of Love: After Leaving Him." Unlike the male version "Because of Love: After She Disappears," which is from the perspective of James McAvoy, this film depicts Ilana, played by Jessica Chastain, as her past infatuation and romance evolve into a cycle of emptiness, causing her to desperately want to escape her married life.
