After the world is nearly completely submerged and polluted by environmental disasters, only a small portion of humanity can escape to the space colony Kepler in search of redemption. After spending years in space, Kepler now faces a threat to humanity, as space radiation has triggered a human infertility crisis. To address this crisis, a manned mission led by elite astronaut Blake is sent to explore the possibility of whether Earth can be habitable again and if there is any hope for the continuation of humanity. Upon returning to Earth, Blake is shocked to discover that a group of survivors known as the Muddies has been living on the abandoned Earth, having survived against all odds in a harsh environment. As she attempts to contact her people on Kepler, changes begin to occur on Earth again...
