In the remote mountains of Canada, Logan (Hugh Jackman), burdened with the pain of immortality, lives in seclusion. During a conflict with hunters, he receives help from a Japanese woman named Yukio (Rila Fukushima). Yukio is a subordinate sent by Logan's old acquaintance Yashida, who wishes to see Logan one last time before he dies. After crossing the ocean, Logan finally meets the frail Yashida, who hopes that Logan will protect his granddaughter Mariko (Tao Okamoto). As the old man passes away, chaos erupts at the funeral. With Yukio's help, Logan fights to rescue Mariko, while Yashida's son Shingen (Hiroyuki Sanada) seems to have ulterior motives. During their escape, Logan unexpectedly discovers that he has lost his healing ability, and the greatest crisis for Wolverine looms...The film is based on the original comic by Frank Miller.
