Earl (Clint Eastwood) is an octogenarian living alone, facing a severe financial crisis. His only home is about to be auctioned off to pay off debts. At this critical moment, Earl gets a job as a driver, but what he’s transporting is not passengers but drugs. Thus, Earl becomes part of a Mexican drug cartel. Earl has to admit that he performs this job exceptionally well, so much so that the drug cartel assigns a liaison specifically for him. However, while Earl's financial issues are resolved, his unusual behavior catches the attention of DEA agent Colin (Bradley Cooper). If Earl continues to test the waters on the legal edge, he risks imprisonment, but if he tries to quit, being privy to too many secrets puts his life in danger from the drug lords.
