Jim Broadbent will star in the new film [A Man's Pilgrimage] (The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, tentative title). Directed by Hettie Macdonald (Normal People), the film is adapted from the bestselling novel of the same name by Rachel Joyce. It tells the story of Harold Fry (played by Broadbent) who receives a letter from his friend Queenie, whom he hasn't seen in 20 years. Queenie is suffering from cancer and writes a farewell letter. Shocked and heartbroken, Harold writes a reply, and on his way to mail it, he reflects on his own life while passing by mailboxes. He walks further and further, ultimately traversing England from the very southwest to the northeast. 87 days, 627 miles, driven by one belief: as long as he walks, his old friend will live on.
