Nineteen-year-old Seth Davis (played by Giovanni Ribisi) is eager to make his first bucket of gold as quickly as possible to gain his father's approval. He initially planned to start by playing illegal card games, but soon discovers that this path is not viable until a stockbroker from a firm called J.T. Marlin approaches him. In this so-called "boiler room," countless stories of overnight millionaires deeply tempt Seth. Before long, the ambitious Seth passes the stockbroker certification exam with flying colors and begins his "road to success." He sells hopeless stocks to greedy investors. Seth is dangerously chasing money and profit, getting closer to what he calls success and fame, plagued by greed and anxiety.
