Robert De Niro will team up with Sebastian Maniscalco to star in Lionsgate's new comedy film About My Father. The film is directed by Laura Terruso, who co-wrote the screenplay with Austin Earl. It is based on Maniscalco's real-life experiences with his father, Salvo (played by De Niro), as he tells his old-fashioned Italian immigrant father that he wants to propose to his all-American girlfriend. Salvo insists on spending the weekend with her parents. Despite cultural clashes and seeming differences between the two families, they become one family by the end of the weekend.
