The protagonist of this work, Kawabe Ichiko, suddenly disappears the day after being proposed to by her partner Hasegawa Yoshinori, with whom she has lived for three years. A detective who claims to be searching for Ichiko visits the bewildered Hasegawa. The detective shows Hasegawa a photo of Ichiko and asks, "Who is this woman?" As Hasegawa gathers testimonies from people who have interacted with her, he learns that Ichiko once went by a different name. In the meantime, he discovers a photo at the bottom of a bag that Ichiko left behind and visits the address written on the back. There, Hasegawa uncovers Ichiko's tragic past and the truth.
