Anders Hill (played by Ben Mendelsohn) has long lived in "The Land of Steady Habits," a wealthy small village in Connecticut, located along a commuter rail line, and he is now ready to enjoy the rewards of a wise life. In his fifties and recently retired, having paid for his adult son's college tuition, Anders feels he's had enough of the stability of his habits: so he leaves his wife (played by Edie Falco), buys an apartment, and awaits the transformation that unfettered freedom will bring to his life. Without the comfort that his previous identity provided, Anders embarks on a tumultuous and heartbreaking journey, trying to reconcile his past with his present. The film is written and directed by Nicole Holofcener ("Can't Let It Go," "Friends with Money") and is adapted from the 2014 novel of the same name by Ted Thompson. Other cast members of "The Land of Steady Habits" include Connie Britton, Elizabeth Marvel, Thomas Mann, and Bill Camp.
