"Spooky Buddies" is a work launched by Disney's "Buddies" series in 2011, and it is also the first to be released as a direct-to-video production. The initial promotional English title had the subtitle "Spooky Buddies: The Curse of the Halloween Hound," but this subtitle was later removed when the official product cover was revealed. Previously, in 2009, the Buddies released "Santa Buddies," which tells the story of Christmas and introduces the new character Santa Paws. This was followed in 2010 by the spin-off "The Search for Santa Paws," featuring Santa Paws. Now, the Buddies are gearing up for another holiday—Halloween! In "Spooky Buddies," as Halloween approaches, the Buddies arrive at a spooky mansion, experiencing a thrilling series of adventures. A wizard named Warlock plots to destroy the world, and with the help of a kind ghost dog, the Buddies must compete with the Halloween Hound to prevent disaster from striking. Similar to previous "Buddies" series entries, this film is co-produced by Anna McRoberts and Robert Vince, with Robert Vince directing. The screenplay is also by Robert Vince and Anna McRoberts. As the child stars grow up, the voice cast for the puppies has changed over time, and this film features performances by Sierra McCormick, Harland Williams, Elisa Donovan, Sage Ryan, etc. The film's score is once again composed by Brahm Wenger. Disney's irresistible talking puppies are back in an all-new movie that takes them far across town to a mysterious mansion where something very spooky is going on. With the help of some unexpected new friends—including a friendly ghost—this exciting adventure is howling-good Buddy fun. In a race against a no-good hound, the Buddies and their new friends, Pip, Zelda, Rodney, and Skip, must stop Warwick the Warlock—and save the world from his dastardly deeds. Overflowing with action, humor, and a bag full of bonus features, "Spooky Buddies" is a spooktacular adventure that celebrates friendship and teamwork your whole family will enjoy.
