In November 1975, in Paris, the appeal hearing for Pierre Goldman, a Jewish far-left activist, is about to begin. He has been sentenced to life imprisonment for four armed robberies, one of which resulted in the deaths of two women, but he denies the murder charges and refuses to plead guilty. As the trial receives extensive media coverage, Goldman is portrayed as a romantic hero of the leftist intellectuals. Meanwhile, his relationship with his young lawyer, Georges Kémen, becomes increasingly tense. Goldman, elusive and eloquent, continues to espouse his ideas even at the risk of a death sentence, making the trial even more chaotic. The Goldman Trial depicts the psychological portrait of a radical while also illustrating a society fragmented by racism and social injustice. Tragically, these issues continue to plague today's society.
