Martin (Mel Gibson) and Roger (Danny Glover), the old partners, are back in action, but right from the start, they trigger a bomb set by the criminals, destroying an entire building, marking the beginning of Roger's last week before retirement. The next day, they encounter muggers posing as bounty hunters on the street, and after a tough battle, they capture the criminals. However, the police hand the case over to the beautiful Deputy Commissioner Lorna (Rene Russo). A prisoner is shot dead by Officer Chavez, and Martin chases the suspect but ultimately misses. In a street shootout, Roger accidentally shoots his son's friend, and feeling guilty, he temporarily steps away from the investigation. Martin and Lorna gradually become involved in the case, which leads to an arms trafficking ring linked to a recent large-scale gun theft. Martin's intervention disrupts the criminals' plans. Soon, Roger rejoins the team, and the three launch a final assault on the crime syndicate. This film won the Best Action Sequence at the 1993 MTV Movie Awards.
