Eight-year-old boy Charlie (Roméo Botzaris) eagerly awaits the arrival of Christmas, as his father Pierre (Vincent Lindon) promised to give him a bicycle as a holiday gift. However, when he finally waits for his father to come home, he discovers that his gift is just a white model airplane. His father, noticing Charlie's disappointment, promises to give him the bicycle for his birthday. Soon, Pierre, a pilot, unfortunately dies during a mission, leaving behind a grieving wife, Catherine (Isabelle Carré), and son Charlie. Every night, Charlie sleeps with the airplane his father gave him, hoping to feel closer to him. However, he discovers that the airplane can actually fly freely…
