Senior art director Zhang Yifeng, who was nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the Golden Horse Awards for "Tears" alongside director Zheng Wentang, presents his new work "Goodbye! Ark." It quietly captures the endless solitude in the bustling city, the cold indifference and alienation of the internet generation with stark realism. Zhang weaves multiple narratives together to create a brutally poignant story of shattered ideals. The tale revolves around Zheng Youjie, who lives on the margins of the world as a blue-collar worker and frequently faces bullying. His only outlet for anger is through "online gaming." A theft incident leads to a subtle intersection with band vocalist Rao Xingxing and dancer Li Xue, portraying a delicate melancholy of seemingly non-existent existence after "disappearance." Zheng Youjie transforms from a refined image to one with stubble and heavier build, even becoming engulfed in anger, his vacant eyes reflecting a dim and subtle loss toward the world. Rao Xingxing plays a band vocalist maintaining a transparent distance from the world, unable to prevent himself from slipping into the imagined abyss; Li Xue fully retreats into the safety barrier of her room, sinking her life into a deep water area from which she cannot surface.
