Based on the novel of the same name by renowned author Stephen King. Horror novelist Mike (played by John Cusack) enjoys exploring haunted places with scientific equipment to gather writing material. This time he chooses the Dolphin Hotel, disregarding the strong warnings from the hotel manager (played by Samuel L. Jackson), and checks into room 1408, where several guests have previously committed suicide. Mike experiences many terrifying events that profoundly change his previous views on supernatural phenomena. When he can no longer withstand the waves of horror and prepares to leave room 1408, the most terrifying thing happens: he finds himself unable to escape by any means.
