In an old public housing complex nearly forgotten by the city, fourteen-year-old girl Shao Zhen (Shin Eun-kyung) has disappeared! Her older sister Xi Zhen (Nam Sang-mi), who is studying at university in Seoul, rushes home upon hearing the news of Shao Zhen's disappearance. However, their mother insists that as long as she prays diligently, Shao Zhen will return on her own. Feeling helpless, Xi Zhen has no choice but to report the case to the police, where officer Tae Hwan (Yoo Seung-hong) treats it as a simple case of a child running away.
Not long after, a woman from the community jumps to her death, and it is discovered that she left a letter for Shao Zhen before her suicide, but curiously, the letter is incomplete. Rumors spread from the community security guard Gwi-ja and neighbor Kyung-ja that Shao Zhen is a child possessed by a ghost, leaving Xi Zhen and officer Tae Hwan at a loss. It is later revealed that the deceased woman was part of the same church as Shao Zhen and Xi Zhen's mother, and the next day, guard Gwi-ja is mysteriously murdered as well. Despite everything obviously being related to their church, their mother remains silent and continues to pray. Shao Zhen's whereabouts become increasingly elusive, and Xi Zhen begins to dream of the apparitions of the deceased...
