In a sealed dry well that has been closed for over thirty years, the bodies of Takayama Ryuji (played by Hiroyuki Sanada) and the long-missing Sadako (played by Rie Ino) are discovered. Forensic examination reveals that Sadako died only one or two years ago, meaning she survived in the well for thirty years. To investigate the cause of her boyfriend's death, Takayama's girlfriend Takano Mai (played by Miki Nakatani) searches for the whereabouts of Asakawa Reiko (played by Nanako Matsushima). She meets Asakawa's junior, Okazaki (played by Yurei Yanagi), and the two follow the leads from Asakawa's initial investigation into the "cursed videotape." Throughout this process, the victims of the videotape continue to emerge. The terrifying Sadako seems not to have vanished from the world; her curse appears to follow them like a malevolent spirit... This film is adapted from Koji Suzuki's original work and is the authentic sequel to the previous film, "The Ring."
